Let Me Rant! Is Social Development In Northern Nigeria Really What It Meant To Be?

We all understand that the major humanitarian need in Nigeria resides in the North. The region represents the major negative data or explanation of Nigeria's social and economic conditions: highest rate out of school children, the highest rate of uneducated girls, and the highest poverty level. As a result, many individuals are concerned with empowering the region. Now, there are numerous Non-Government Organizations in the region, numerous humanitarian aids from international governments, organisations and personalities.
While these aids are at our disposal what are we doing as development oriented experts, NGOs and personalities in ensuring that the government takes actions. When talking of the government or leadership, I am not only referring to the political leadership of the states but also the Emirs, Serikis, Imams, and also the head of families; people who have the right to influence the thinking and the perspective of the development or change in the lives of citizens and their means of livelihood.
Really, you cannot buy a man with money. Don't let give fish alone, let's teach them how to fish. By so doing, we can have the aimed growth and development.

However, I am not oblivious of the fact that some of these aids are given or done for the purpose of self-interest; likewise, the highest level of oligarchy in Nigeria resides in the Northern region of Nigeria.

Let's teach people to fish, don't just give fish. The thought process is in dire need of transformation.

Help yourself, help Nigeria, help the North and don't just waste aids and money in the name of humanitarian or social development.
